Pastor Laurie's Story

Growing up in upstate New York as a young person, I knew there was a call on my life. Like many others before me, I tried to escape the calling.  Arriving in Columbus, Ohio, I became a live-in resident of the Teen Challenge program, which altered my life forever.  I began to visit Christian Assembly as a young adult; one night the Lord visited me in a dream showing me I would one day be on staff at CA.  A number of years passed before this dream became a reality, but in God's perfect timing,  I was given oversight of the Root Cellar Children’s Ministry. Over the years I have worn many different hats.  The latest has been to build our 1Life Youth ministry.  I am also passionate about working with young adults and training them to be leaders of our youth.

My pastoral studies were through International Leadership Training in Columbus, OH.  In addition, I completed “Breakthrough Biblical Counseling Training” through Reconciliation Ministries in Spring 2016.  I have also appreciated the “on the job training” I have received from pastors and those who have served as private and public school teachers.

In 2001, I married longtime friend Dan Johnson.  We enjoy hanging out on our deck or around the fire pit overlooking the ravine behind our home.  We also love spending time with our nieces and our dog, Favor.
